SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KRNV & KRXI) — South Lake Tahoe fire chief Clive Savacool is resigning, according to a news release from the city Monday morning.
Savacool’s resignation is effective May 6 but he will be out on remaining paid time off for the time being. Battalion chief Jim Drennan will serve as acting chief.
Savacool was named fire chief in April of 2020.
“Although I didn’t get to spend an entire career with the City, I feel we achieved a lifetime of accomplishments. Rough seas make good sailors and we certainly have our experiences to be proud of.”
The city said Savacool was hired during a difficult time and successfully led multiple efforts in El Dorado County and other community partners to hold vaccine clinics to ensure the community was kept safe during the pandemic. City manager Joe Irvin also thanked him for his service especially during the massive Caldor Fire.
