The Tahoe Resource Conservation District, the University of Nevada Reno Extension, Lake Tahoe Fire Prevention Districts and Land Management Agencies are launching a six-month Lake Tahoe Wildfire Awareness Campaign. This year’s campaign runs from May to October under the theme: Is your home ignition resistant? The campaign encourages residents to prepare for forest fires year-round by creating defensible space, removing weak spots in the embers, and working with neighborhood and community leaders. Fire preparedness information and resources are continuously shared through their social media, Tahoe Living With Fire website, and monthly newsletter.
Throughout the campaign, partners in the Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities will continue to provide information and resources at events across the Tahoe Basin. To stay up to date with the latest information and events this summer, please visit the Tahoe Living with Fire events page here.
As part of the Wildfire Awareness Campaign in Nevada, the University of Nevada’s Reno Extension’s Living With Fire program offers a series of webinars on wildfire topics. Check out some of their sessions below. To see her full program this year, please click here.
