Fire officials are approaching the target date for full containment of the Caldor Fire as the wildfire grew to 221,505 acres as of Friday morning.
According to Cal Fire, the Caldor Fire is 76% contained and the expected date of full containment is Monday, Sept. 27.
Throughout Thursday night, crews continued to patrol along Highway 50 and responded to calls to put out smoke and heat flare-ups within containment and control lines.
“We’ve had some flare-ups at the Sierra staging area near Sierra-at-Tahoe,” Caldor Fire Operations Section Chief Al Ward said in a briefing Friday. “Some of the other notable flare-ups you guys are seeing are typically along the Highway 50 corridor.”
