After selling to new owners over a year ago, Toogood Estate Winery is expanding with a new tasting room on Main Street in Placerville.
Ron Mittelstaedt, former CEO of Waste Connections Inc., purchased the 40-acre winery at 7280 Fairplay Road along with his wife Darin in December 2019.
“It was going great through March of 2020, and then we ended up being closed four of the last nine months of the year,” Mittelstaedt said. Since they were able to reopen the tasting room, he said business has been continually improving.
Now they’re opening another tasting room in a highly trafficked location at 304 Main St., adjacent to the historic Cary House Hotel.
“We have a lot of club members from Sacramento, from Folsom, from El Dorado Hills, from Cameron Park, and from Roseville and Granite Bay,” he said.
