Placerville, CA – On April 28, 2021 Mayor Dennis Thomas, Vice Mayor Kara Taylor, Council Member Michael Saragosa and Council Member Patricia Borelli were each served with a notice of intention to recall, which was then filed with the City Clerk.
This recall is due to the disrespect to our city’s historic culture, our diversity, and to the public in general. These officials have failed to adequately represent us, respect us, or listen to our concerns. They have failed to serve and cultivate local unique and historical businesses while instead serving the interest of outside chain stores. As they move through each of their chosen capital projects, to favor special interests, they are permanently scaring Placerville’s landscape, culture and sense of place.
We are tired of the Lack of Representation, Lack of Fiscal Responsibility, and the Abuse of Power.
Each Official has seven days to respond to our notice of intention. After the seven days we can submit the actual recall petitions to the City Clerk for approval, in which the clerk has 10 days to approve the petition. People are anxious to rally and organize to acquire the necessary signatures as we are moving through the process to recall.

That is great news
Though posting is a good way to make issues of general interest known, it is not ‘the solution’. If the current City Council is not representative of the city then the solution is for the residents to become active, not just ‘blog readers’. The City Council represents those that are active only. So, if only 20% or less of the community is active than that 20% rule under the current system. If you don’t like what they are doing the solution is to get active (and perhaps require active participation so closer to 100% of the population are represented). Democracy is for those that participate, not those that complain with out any actual participation. If you don’t participate you get what those that do participate want.
