The Census is mandated in Article 1 of the US Constitution that every 10 years there be a count of the entire population of the US and its territories. This count sets congressional representation and federal funding for the county for the next 10 years and is very important that we have accurate data for fair funding.
Census forms will be hitting the mail March of 2020 and people need to fill out their forms as of the date of April 1, 2020. They will have the option to fill out the packet sent to them, go online (link will be in packet) or call a secure phone line listed in the packet.
2020 Census Jobs Available
The 2020 Census is seeking part time census takers in El Dorado County. Anyone over 18 year old with a valid social security number or work authorization and an email may apply online at 2020census.gov/jobs. Positions are temporary part time with employee setting their own schedule based on availability. These jobs are paying. $18/hr with a 58 cents/mile mileage reimbursement. Applicants need reliable transportation to get to work.

Voting Has Changed in El Dorado County
Starting 2020, all registered voters in El Dorado County will receive their ballot in the mail weeks before the election. You have three choices for how to vote:
- You can mail your ballot starting as soon as you receive it.
- You can drop off you ballot at any secure Drop Box starting as soon as you receive it. No postage required.
- You can go to any Vote Center in the county in person. Vote Centers will be open for up to 11 days in a row. At every Vote Center you can:♦ Vote
♦ Register and vote the same day
♦ Drop off your ballot
♦ Vote with an accessible voting machine
♦ Get help and voting materials in multiple languages
The California Voter’s Choice Act became law in 2016 to make voting more convenient and accessible.
You choose HOW you vote: Whether using the mail, a drop box or a vote center, you choose the method that works best for you.
You choose WHEN you vote: Instead of just one day to vote, you can vote in person during an 11-day period — including weekends — ending on Election Day.
You choose WHERE you vote: You can vote in person at any Vote Center in your county.
You get the SUPPORT you need: Vote Center staff will be there to help you have a great voting experience, including providing assistance in multiple languages and helping voters with disabilities.
