SACRAMENTO, CA – Today Assemblyman Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin) released the following statement in response to the release of Governor Gavin Newsom’s plan for the “next phase” of the pandemic response:
“Today Governor Newsom acknowledged that California must move forward from the pandemic, but his actions say otherwise. He recommitted to continuing a school mask mandate that a bipartisan coalition of governors across the nation has ended. Now more than ever we need the State Legislature to act with urgency and return power to local communities by ending the State of Emergency.”
Earlier today, Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins announced that on March 15 the Senate Committee on Governmental Organization will hear SCR 5, a resolution to end the State of Emergency.
Assemblyman Kevin Kiley represents the 6th Assembly District, which includes the Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado County communities of Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills, Fair Oaks, Folsom, Granite Bay, Lincoln, Loomis, Orangevale, Penryn, Rocklin, Roseville, and Sheridan.
