SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (News 4 and Fox 11) — Around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, the Eldorado National Forest announced that a new fire was burning near Ellicotts Bridge on the Georgetown District.
The area of the Rubicon Fire is about 14 miles northeast of Pollock Pines, California and is being held at approximately seven acres.
Resources from the Caldor Fire were sent to the new blaze in a mutual aid effort with Cal Fire and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS). Those resources included five crews, two aircraft, two fire engines, and two water tenders.
Two of the five firefighting crews were specialized hotshot crews.
