… As the end of the irrigation season approaches, the state has taken action to cut off water to thousands of water users on the Delta for the remainder of the year, and possibly next year.
The El Dorado Irrigation District also primarily relies on stored water. It delivers water to more than 125,000 residents and agriculture customers on the west slope of El Dorado County.
District spokesperson Jesse Saich said much of its water supply is stored in Jenkinson Lake near Pollock Pines.
“Right now, it doesn’t affect us,” Saich said.
The district also has pre-1914 water rights on the Upper American River, which could be curtailed under the regulation, but Saich said the district could plan around that.
“What we’re doing is what we do in every drought,” Saich said. “We intensively plan.” …
