A man was pronounced dead Saturday after he was recovered from the American River near Coloma, according to the El Dorado County Fire Department.
Bystanders reported a man floating face down in the river around 2:30 p.m., officials said.
Rescue crews attempted to revive the man after he was pulled from the south fork of the American River, but he was later pronounced dead, officials said.
The identity of the man was not released.
