El Dorado Hills, Calif – Amazon is expanding its in-garage parcel delivery service called Key to include groceries in Sacramento, West Sacramento, Rocklin, El Dorado Hills, Elk Grove and Roseville.

Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) is now offering free delivery of Amazon Fresh and Amazon-owned Whole Foods Market grocery items to Prime members’ garages that use a compatible garage door opener or myQ Smart Garage Hub.

“Customers who tried Key in-garage grocery delivery have loved the service, which is why we’re expanding it to everywhere Amazon offers grocery delivery,” said Pete Gerstberger, head of Key by Amazon, in a news release.

The service keeps groceries out of the weather, and it puts the order out of the hands of “porch pirates” who steal packages.

The in-garage parcel delivery service was originally announced in January 2019 after the big Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and it started in Sacramento and 36 other cities in the second quarter of that year. …
