| On Thursday, June 1, in the lovely setting of Boeger Winery, El Dorado Arts Council will inaugurate an annual award that recognizes extraordinary commitment to culture and creativity.
The Arts Council will present this award to Normadene Carpenter on that day, and to honor her remarkable legacy they have designated it in perpetuity as the Normadene Carpenter Award. The event will be co-chaired by the immediate past President of the Arts Council, Emily Burton Smith, and Placerville City Councilmember Wendy Thomas. Supervisor Brian Veerkamp will serve as the master of ceremonies.
Among the many dedicated and generous individuals who are committed to the quality of life in El Dorado County, one name stands out for her decades of support for arts and culture – Normadene Carpenter. For over four decades, Normadene has made it her life’s work to celebrate the uplifting beauty of the arts in all forms. Emily Smith stated, “I am honored and humbled to chair an event that recognizes the amazing change agent that is Normadene Carpenter. She has been a consistent and dynamic force in support of the arts and culture in our county, so it is perfect that this event will honor both her life and the Arts Council’s work in arts and culture. Boeger Winery has also been a stalwart supporter of the arts, and once again we will enjoy their beautiful setting and first class staff on June 1st. This will be a lovely evening of celebration and recognition.”
Proceeds from the benefit will support the programs and services of El Dorado Arts Council. The event is open to the public; tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased by phone, 530-295-3496, online BY CLICKING HERE, or at the Arts Council office, 772 Pacific Street in Placerville.
