Two out-of-state men, one of them a Wisconsin native, face marijuana
trafficking charges after state and federal authorities, investigating an influx
of high-grade marijuana from California, last week seized nearly $270,000 in
cash from a hotel room and more than 200 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana from
a storage locker.
Dane County Court Commissioner Todd Meurer said Wednesday during a court
appearance for the two men that it was the largest marijuana-involved case that
he recalls coming before him.
Jonathan Stansfield, 37, of Berwick, Maine, and Dylan C. Hudson, 26,
of Placerville, Calif., were charged Wednesday with possession of marijuana with
intent to deliver.
According to a search warrant filed Tuesday in Dane County Circuit Court,
agents last Thursday conducted a controlled delivery of 90 pounds of marijuana
to Stansfield, which had been shipped from California to Illinois.
Stansfield was followed from Chicago to Madison, where he went to the Crowne
Plaza Hotel, 4402 E. Washington Ave., then left with Hudson.
