CHP reports that his afternoon the Placerville CHP initiated a pursuit of a stolen Chevrolet pickup occupied by three people. This pursuit began on US-50 near Ice House Road. The pursuit continued westbound on US-50, toward Sacramento. When the pickup reached Sly Park Road, the driver of the Chevrolet intentionally drove wrong way on US-50. The pursuit was then terminated by the involved Officers. At least two vehicles had to swerve to avoid a head-on collision with the pickup.
On Thursday around 11:20 hrs the Sheriff’s Office as well as the California Highway Patrol learned that a stolen silver 2017 Chevy pick-up, was last seen westbound on Hwy 50 from the Myers, South Lake Tahoe area. We are now asking for anyone affected by this driver driving wrong way or hit as a result of the driver’s reckless behavior to please call the Placerville CHP and speak to Officer Ellison, 530-622-1110.
At around 12:10 CHP got behind the pick-up in the area of Bridal Veil Falls and Hwy 50. A pursuit began continuing westbound 50. The suspect driving the stolen pick up endangered numerous lives when he began driving the wrong way on Hwy 50. eventually he exited at Ridgeway, striking a CHP vehicle and finally stopped after another collision at Pony Express and Ridgeway. The driver ran away and he was chased by officers however he was able to elude CHP Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies for about an hour.
Sheriff Deputy J. Tucker and his K-9 partner Carly located the suspect and the suspect was taken into custody. Lots of team work resulted in another successful capture!!
