Interim Police Chief Joseph Wren]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Placerville picked Commander Wren as interim police chief after James Ortega stepped down from his position this week following a closed city council meeting where he and the city mutually agreed to part ways.<\/p>\n<p>On January 8, 2016 Former Cheif Heller Swore-in Commander Joseph Wren. \u00a0Previously Joseph Wren was with the Ceres Police Department. \u00a0At the Sutter Creek Police Department in Amador County Wren started his career in 1996.\u00a0 &#8220;Wren is also a military veteran, serving as a Marine and Army National Guardsman,&#8221; According to the Mtn Democrat.<\/p>\n<p>Commander Wren came to the Placerville Police Department in 2016 after an extensive statewide selection process. \u00a0With over 20 years of law enforcement experience in a variety of different roles, Commander Wren was selected.\u00a0 He brought with him experience as a Homicide Investigator, SWAT member\/leader, K9 Handler, and Field Training Officer, as well as leading patrol officers and specialized units as a Sergeant.<\/p>\n<p>Commander Wren has a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master\u2019s Degree in Business Administration.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Placerville City Manager issued a Media release stating,\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\">&#8220;Joe recently returned from an intensive ten week training at the FBI Academy. He has been a leader in the department through his example and hard work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\">The City Manager and City Council will continue to evaluate options for appointment of a permanent chief.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\">The City is facing difficult times due to the current pandemic crisis. We are confident Commander Wren will help us navigate through this crisis and continue to lead a great department and terrific staff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>The City Manager and City Council will continue to evaluate options for appointment of a permanent chief.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[InEDC.\u00a0 Img.
