{"id":9576,"date":"2020-03-04T17:11:32","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T01:11:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/?p=9576"},"modified":"2025-12-31T17:12:16","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T01:12:16","slug":"wendy-wins-but-for-2-5-of-county-voters-new-elections-start-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/2020\/03\/04\/wendy-wins-but-for-2-5-of-county-voters-new-elections-start-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Wendy Wins but for 2\/5 of County voters New Elections Start Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p><em>Cris Alarcon]<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u><strong>President<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0&#8211; In the BIG race &#8211;\u00a0 [NOT full election results, the vote in El Dorado County] Sanders, the &#8220;Progressive&#8221; [far left] Candidate take the win from Biden, the Centrist Democratic front-runner with a 4,770 votes for Sanders to Biden&#8217;s 4,663.\u00a0 Incumbent Republican President sweeps the County with over 95% of the &#8220;R&#8221; votes taken.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>US Representative 4th<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0District sees TOM MCCLINTOCK taking a slight majority of votes giving him an expected win.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>State Senator<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0is won by BRIAN DAHLE with almost 69% of the votes cast.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>State Assembly<\/strong><\/u>\u00a05th District was uncontested and reseats FRANK BIGELOW. State Assembly 6th District was won by incumbent KEVIN KILEY with 63% of in-county votes.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>County Supervisor 1st Supervisorial District<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0votes revealed Incumbent John Hidal&#8217;s weakness as Former Supervisor Ron Briggs will continue campaigning against him in a Run-Off election. This Supervisor Seat is two of three races that will continue into a Runoff election. JOHN HIDAHL almost avoids a Second immediate camping to retain his seat as he failed to reach the magic number of OVER 50% of the votes with 44.99% of the votes and Ron Briggs in 2nd place with 24% of the vote. \u00a0CAVEAT &#8212; This race result is SO close that it is expected that Supervisor Hidal will contest the results and request a recount to verify that he did not get a few more votes that would push him past the 50% threshold to have an outright win and therefore avoid a costly and grueling Run-Off, but at this point we are facing a second round of campaigning and voting in 1st Supervisorial District. \u00a0Unless a recount should reveal that Hidahl won over 50% of the votes, this voter group will be at it for many more months of active campaigning.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>County Supervisor 2nd Supervisorial District<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0is the second of three Supervisorial races that will keep going to November as it is a run-off between George Turnboo that took the most votes with 26.66% to second place KEN PIMLOTT&#8217;s 22.75%. \u00a0They will continue in a Run-off starting this day and continuing to the November election.<br \/>\nNotable in this race was that 4 candidates each took nearly 20% of the votes making this an unusually tightly and broadly contested race. \u00a0Of note is that this District boundaries changed in recent times to go from mostly Rural to a proportional mix of Rural and Sub-Urban voters. \u00a0Ray Nutting and George Turnboo are perennial candidates and have a tight grip on the rural voters that know them well. \u00a0This face off against sub-urban voters of Cameron Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\"><em>In this race we saw a few notable results:<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\">&#8212;\u00a0<strong>Ray Nutting<\/strong>, Former Supervisor did not do well. \u00a0A popular candidate for several terms was plagued by a record of legal fights that he was never convicted of still was fresh in many people&#8217;s mind as it was only a few years ago that he lost his office over charges that many describe as politically motivates was still an unwanted campaign spector for Nutting. His most troublesome moment came when a video was posted that showed Nutting swapping his campaign literature for an opponent campaign materials. \u00a0Nutting gave a fair explanation as it being an unintentional error made on an exhausting campaign, but the voters were unwilling to give Nutting the needed support in\u00a0crowed field and he will not be in the run-off as his take was 20.68%, a respectable take in a crowded race but only the top two candidates will go to run-off and Nutting is third in a group of candidates that each took just over 20% each.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\">&#8212;\u00a0<strong>Second-tier candidates<\/strong>\u00a0are new to politics and are new to applied politics [running for office] resulting in KEVIN A LOEWEN taking almost 5% and TYLER KUSKIE taking over 3%. \u00a0Not winners in this election cycle but likely to show up on future ballots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\">&#8212;\u00a0<strong>Dark Horse &#8220;Progressive Liberal&#8221; candidate<\/strong>\u00a0did well in a field of Men. \u00a0In quite many &#8220;Progressive&#8221; Democrats were pushing\u00a0<u><strong>FELICITY CARLSON<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0as a Liberal push into RED El Dorado County and she had a strong advantage of being a Female in a field of all men with three being what could be described as the Strong Alpha-male types. \u00a0MOST voters are Females! \u00a0This was a strong advantage but she had a very weak platform and did not catch the needed votes to move forward into the Run-off as she was 4th place with 20.62% of the votes received.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\">&#8212;\u00a0<u><strong>GEORGE TURNBOO and KEN PIMLOTT move ahead to battle-on taking 26.66% to 22.75% \u00a0respectively.<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0Today is the first day of their head-to-head combat that will pit South-County rural needs\/wants against those that mostly live in CSD\/sub-urban areas of Cameron Park. \u00a0We will all see how that progresses over the next few months.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>County Supervisor 3rd Supervisorial District<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0sees Wendy Thomas win handily wit 2\/3 of the vote count. \u00a0Congratulations to our Newest Supervisor Wendy Thomas, to be sworn into Office at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Republican Party County Central Committee<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0&#8211; Four candidates ran for three available seats. \u00a0DOUGLAS WILLIAMS takes 31%, followed by KATHLEEN BAILEY with 27%, and GERALDINE &#8220;GERRI&#8221; GREGO rounding it off with 25% of the votes.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>All of the uncontested races for Judge<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0end as expected, all won.<\/p>\n<p>In El Dorado County Los Rios Community College District\u00a0<u><strong>Measure E<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0was handed a sound defeat with 67.31% of our county voters saying, &#8220;NO.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>El Dorado Union High School District\u00a0<u><strong>Measure A<\/strong><\/u>, &#8220;NO&#8221; with 62.51% voting in the Negative. \u00a0This was the theme for Bonds with Black Oak Mine Unified School District\u00a0<u><strong>Measure H<\/strong><\/u>, and Rescue Union School District\u00a0<u><strong>Measure G<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0going down with high percentages of NOES.<\/p>\n<p>Lake Valley Fire Protection District\u00a0<u><strong>Measure B<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0failed to meet the needed 66.66% vote [2\/3] to raise a new tax but with a respectable 58.60%. \u00a0 Most other ballot issues of this kind effect a small groups of people [under 600] and I will omit them for the sake of brevity, but official number [for our county] are posted at:\u00a0<a>https:\/\/www.edcgov.us\/Government\/Elections\/Documents\/20200303.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p><u><em>Let the campaigns start today for 2\/5 of the county residents to decide who shall be the final two Supervisors out of a body of five.<\/em><\/u><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>(Numbers directly for the county elections department but analysis and opinion are solely mine.
