Fatherhood is a calling from God. In life, we may seek different leadership roles, but the role of parent is the highest and noblest leader we can be.<\/p>\n

President James E. Faust<\/em>\u00a0said: \u201cNoble fatherhood gives us a glimpse of the divine attributes of our Father in Heaven. A father should be many things. He should magnify his priesthood and be an example of righteousness. In companionship with his wife, he should be the source of stability and strength for the whole family. He should be the protector and the provider and the champion of the members of his family. Much of his love for his children should flow from his example of love, concern, and fidelity for their mother. By his uncompromising example he should instill character into his children<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

What are some things we must do as fathers?<\/p>\n

1. \u00a0 \u00a0 Preside at the meal table, at family prayer, and at family home evening as guided by the Spirit.<\/p>\n

2. \u00a0 \u00a0 Give father\u2019s blessings.<\/p>\n

3. \u00a0 \u00a0 Take an active part in establishing family rules and discipline.<\/p>\n

4. \u00a0 \u00a0 Live a family-centered life.<\/p>\n

5. \u00a0 \u00a0 Treat your wife as your equal.<\/p>\n

6. \u00a0 \u00a0 Teach your children by your own righteous example.<\/p>\n

7. \u00a0 \u00a0 Live and study and pray for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost.<\/p>\n

8. \u00a0 \u00a0 Provide for your family.<\/p>\n

Above all, \u201cthe most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother<\/strong>\u201d said\u00a0Theodore Hesburgh<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Savior prepared Himself to teach by spending time alone in prayer and fasting. He sought His Heavenly Father\u2019s guidance. As you prepare to teach others how they can know Heavenly Father, follow the Savior\u2019s example and spend time in prayer and fasting, and seek Heavenly Father\u2019s guidance. During your preparations, strive to draw near to Him, and share your testimony of Heavenly Father with others.<\/p>\n

Elder L. Tom Perry<\/em>\u00a0said this about fatherhood: \u201cFatherhood is leadership, the most important kind of leadership. It has always been so; it always will be so. Father, with the assistance and counsel and encouragement of your eternal companion, you preside in the home.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n
