In the coming weeks, they will also have online access to an increased level of information and functionality related to the permits to make the process even easier.<\/p>\n<p>After more than a year of development and training, the County will go live with its \u201cTRAKiT\u201d system, an online system that, when fully functional, will allow residents to take the steps needed to get permits and provide documentation from the comfort of their own home at their convenience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday residents will have a choice to either visit County planning and building offices in Placerville or Lake Tahoe to do some of their permitting business or do so online from the location of their choice,\u201d said Roger Trout, Director of the Department of Planning and Building.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the new system, which replaces a land management information system that is more than 25 years old, will soon allow users to apply for permits, pay fees, schedule inspections and track the progress of their projects online. Four specific types of permits will be available a few weeks after May 14th. Those include:<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\">&#8212;\u00a0<u>Residential Electrical<\/u>, including Service Panel, Subpanel, Alteration\/Repair, Replace Service Panel, Replace Subpanel, Electric Vehicle Charging Station, Generator, Energy Storage System, Well, Temporary Service;<br \/>\n&#8212;\u00a0<u>Residential Mechanica<\/u>l, including Electrical HVAC, Gas HVAC, Duct, Furnace, Replace A\/C coil and condenser, Wood fireplace\/Stove, Gas Fireplace\/Stove, Whole House Fan, Alteration\/Repair;<br \/>\n&#8212;\u00a0<u>Residential Plumbing<\/u>, including LP tank set, Replace Piping, Alteration\/Repair, Water Heater Electric, Water Heater Gas, Solar Thermal, Water Tank; and,<br \/>\n&#8212;\u00a0<u>Residential Re-Roof<\/u><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe time and effort of staff to bring this system to residents has been substantial and is one more step in updating old, legacy systems from the mainframe environment,\u201d said the County\u2019s Chief Administrative Officer, Don Ashton. \u201cThe team involved in this implementation is to be commended for their efforts to provide a new way for the public to receive service from the County, while doing so in a very cost effective manner by not hiring any additional staff to assist with the development and implementation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To set up a TRAKiT account and take advantage of the new online system, click\u00a0<a>http:\/\/edcgov.trakit.net\/etrakit\/<\/a>\u00a0to get started.
