Although multiple residents reiterated desires to erect fencing around Kalithea Park, ultimately the decision was punted to the neighborhood HOA to handle.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Community members made a show of force, many taking umbrage not only with General Manager Kevin Loewen\u2019s reference to \u201ccaging\u201d in the area but also the aesthetics of the district\u2019s fencing design concepts. Most argued for the measure to ensure community safety and prevent what they felt were untenable conditions last summer, referencing burglaries, drugs, sex, noise, outsized crowds and even a gunshot through a resident\u2019s living room.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s reasonable to expect that we live in a safe environment and feel safe in our homes and that\u2019s been compromised by the activity at the park,\u201d said resident Mike Roppolo. \u201cI also don\u2019t think it\u2019s unreasonable to expect a restful night\u2019s sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do have a plan in place in case we experience the issues that happened last year,\u201d assured Mattock. \u201cWe welcome people into our community to use our public parks and our public trails. That\u2019s not going to change. We take everybody\u2019s concerns seriously because we care.
