Residents can participate in the challenge by registering at\u00a0<a>https:\/\/stridekick.com\/tc\/apha18<\/a>\u00a0and logging steps from January 1st through Sunday, April 8th.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFitness should be fun! This challenge is a great way to kick-start the New Year with a little friendly competition,\u201d said El Dorado County Health Officer, Dr. Nancy Williams. \u201cOne out of every two U.S. adults is living with a chronic disease, such as heart disease, cancer or diabetes. Increasing physical activity levels is one of the most important actions people can take to improve their overall health,\u201d Williams added.<\/p>\n<p>APHA has partnered with Stridekick to offer participants an easy way to track their steps through the integration of the top fitness tracker phone apps and smartwatch brands. Activity is not limited to walking. Step-conversion charts found online can be used to convert numerous activity types into steps.
