{"id":6785,"date":"2017-11-15T22:43:15","date_gmt":"2017-11-16T06:43:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/?p=6785"},"modified":"2025-12-08T22:44:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T06:44:15","slug":"sheriff-announces-recovery-of-2-bodies-from-fallen-leaf-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/2017\/11\/15\/sheriff-announces-recovery-of-2-bodies-from-fallen-leaf-lake\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheriff Announces Recovery of 2 Bodies from Fallen Leaf Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>EDSO Sergeant Anthony Prencipe]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bruce&#8217;s Legacy, an underwater search and recovery team from Wisconsin, came to Fallen Leaf Lake to assist The El Dorado County Sheriff\u2019s Office with a deep water search for two missing people.<\/p>\n<p>The first went missing in the summer of 1996. \u00a0A 21 year old male was reported to have drowned in Fallen Leaf Lake while boating, his body was never recovered. \u00a0The second went missing in 2001. \u00a0A female was reported to have drowned in the lake and her body was also never recovered.<\/p>\n<p>On August 29, 2017, Bruce\u2019s Legacy used a Side Scan Sonar to locate several potential sites where the drowning victims could be located. \u00a0They then used an underwater rover to visibly search each of those locations. \u00a0 During the search, they located the body of an adult female that was similar to that of the missing female from 2001. \u00a0The body was recovered from the lake and sent to the Sacramento County Coroner for an Autopsy. \u00a0DNA samples were sent to The California Department of Justice Crime Lab for identification. \u00a0There was no indication of foul play. We have not received the results of the DNA testing.<\/p>\n<p>On October 27, 2017, El Dorado County Sheriff\u2019s Detectives and Bruce&#8217;s Legacy returned to Fallen Leaf Lake to search for the male that went missing in 1996. \u00a0After several hours of searching, an adult male\u2019s body was located. \u00a0The body had a rope tied around the lower portion of the legs. \u00a0A small anchor was tied to the end of the rope.<\/p>\n<p>When the male body was taken from the lake, it was soon evident that it did not match the physical description of the male that went missing in 1996. \u00a0The body looked to have been in the lake for many years. \u00a0It was apparent that we had located a body that we had not known of, prior to his recovery.<\/p>\n<p>The body was sent to the Sacramento County Coroner\u2019s Office for a Forensic Autopsy. \u00a0DNA samples were sent to The California Department of Justice Crime Lab for possible identification. \u00a0At this point, the cause and manner of death has not been determined. \u00a0This is an ongoing investigation and it is not known if this is a case of homicide or suicide.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce\u2019s Legacy has continued their search for the 1996 missing male and as of this date he has not been located.<\/p>\n<p>These are ongoing investigations and it could take several months to determine the identities of the bodies that were recovered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EDSO Sergeant Anthony Prencipe] Bruce&#8217;s Legacy, an underwater search and recovery team from Wisconsin, came to Fallen Leaf<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"featured_image_urls":{"full":"","thumbnail":"","medium":"","medium_large":"","large":"","1536x1536":"","2048x2048":"","darknews-slider-full":"","darknews-featured":"","darknews-medium":"","darknews-medium-square":""},"author_info":{"display_name":"News MoLo","author_link":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/author\/admin\/"},"category_info":"<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/News\/news\/\" rel=\"category tag\">News<\/a>","tag_info":"News","comment_count":"0","_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6785"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=6785"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6785\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":6786,"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6785\/revisions\/6786"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6785"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=6785"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=6785"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
