{"id":6418,"date":"2017-08-16T16:17:47","date_gmt":"2017-08-16T23:17:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/?p=6418"},"modified":"2025-12-06T16:18:35","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T00:18:35","slug":"sheriff-helps-rescue-two-stranded-hikers-in-desolation-wilderness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/2017\/08\/16\/sheriff-helps-rescue-two-stranded-hikers-in-desolation-wilderness\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheriff Helps Rescue Two Stranded Hikers in Desolation Wilderness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>EDSO Sergeant Tasha Thompson]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On August 13, 2017, at approximately 11:35 am, El Dorado County Sheriff\u2019s Office conducted a search and rescue mission for two stranded hikers near Lake Sylvia in desolation wilderness. \u00a0Lake Sylvia is inside the El Dorado National Forest at an elevation of 8,700 ft.<\/p>\n<p>It was reported the two hikers, Lisa Tran and Sarah Pollo, both from the Sacramento area, were stranded on a cliff and could not get down or up. Due to the remote location and distance into the wilderness, the California Highway Patrol Air Operations were requested to assist with the rescue.<\/p>\n<p>The hikers were located on the ledge of a steep cliff by the CHP helicopter. \u00a0Search and rescue volunteers with the assistance of the CHP helicopter, used long ropes to lower both hikers to safety.
