{"id":6138,"date":"2017-07-07T18:53:36","date_gmt":"2017-07-08T01:53:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/?p=6138"},"modified":"2025-12-05T18:54:27","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T02:54:27","slug":"edcoe-personnel-services-receives-2017-excellence-in-education-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/2017\/07\/07\/edcoe-personnel-services-receives-2017-excellence-in-education-award\/","title":{"rendered":"EDCOE Personnel Services Receives 2017 Excellence in Education Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Kaitlyn Fly, EDCOE Leadership &amp; Communications Intern]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Because of their commitment and drive to provide high-quality services, County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Ed Manansala, honored the El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) Personnel Services Team with the Excellence in Education Award for the 2016-17 school year. The award recognizes hard work that directly or indirectly contributes to providing quality support and services to students, schools, families, and the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Personnel Services Department keeps EDCOE running, and they are the first faces every EDCOE team member sees when they join our family,\u201d Dr. Manansala stated. \u201cThey do a lot of behind-the-scenes work to ensure that we recruit and hire ideal candidates, take care of our team members\u2019 benefit needs, provide professional development, and the list goes on. Beyond their work \u2013 we can all agree that it is a pleasure to see them every day. They have amazing attitudes and go out of their way to make sure we have the tools needed to do our work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coleen Johnson, Executive Director of Personnel Services, received the award at a recognition ceremony in May and exclaimed, \u201cI am so proud of our team, and the hard work everyone continuously performs to support our educators and students. Our mission is to serve El Dorado County Office of Education programs by ensuring qualified, and professional teachers and classified staff serve students in our programs and to act as a resource for school districts within the County.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Personnel Services provides support to EDCOE and school districts, offers fingerprinting services, manages the substitute pool in the County, and manages employee benefits, leaves, and hiring. The department operates the bimonthly Human Resource Council (HRC) during which members are updated on new legislation and informed on the best human resource practices. The department monitors the credentials of all teachers in the County and new hires to ensure students are receiving a high-quality education from qualified teachers. Personnel Services is also proud to offer EDCOE and school district team members professional development training. Mrs. Johnson explained that through these programs, \u201cThey can cost-effectively come to EDCOE instead of somewhere else to receive that quality training.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Personnel Services is comprised of nine team members, each of which specializes in a certain area to make sure the department runs smoothly. When asked why they enjoy working in their department, members highlighted the department\u2019s incredible level of support and its ability to work as a team.
