A suspected murder happened on Forni road and the El Dorado Sheriff’s Office notified the community posed by the public safety risk of the suspect and to seek help in locating the suspect:\u00a0[a suspect that was previously convicted of a hate crime but avoided jail time]<\/p>\n

Posted on May 10, 2017:<\/em><\/p>\n

“El Dorado County Sheriff\u2019s Office was called to the 4400 block of Forni Road for a call of suspicious gun shots. \u00a0Witnesses reported seeing a red motorcycle leaving soon after the shooting ridden by a person with a black helmet and headed toward Missouri Flat Road. \u00a0When Deputies arrived at the address, they discovered a male with multiple gunshot wounds. \u00a0Medics responded and rendered aid, but the man succumbed to his injuries. \u00a0There is an ongoing investigation, but the Sheriff\u2019s Office has identified a person wanted in connection with this homicide. \u00a0The person of interest is 36 year old Travis Eriksen. \u00a0Travis should be considered armed and dangerous. \u00a0If you see him or have information about the investigation, please call El Dorado County Sheriff\u2019s Office Dispatch at 530 621-6600.”<\/p>\n

EDSO Posted this message on Social Media:<\/p>\n

“El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office would like the community’s help. We are looking for 36 year old Travis Leif Eriksen wanted for questioning in relation to a homicide that occurred today. He is a white man, 6’1″ and 180 pounds. If you should see Eriksen, use caution, as he should be considered armed and dangerous. Call El Dorado County Dispatch at 530 621-6600 if you have information.”<\/p>\n

By the next mid-morning there was much law enforcement activity, speeding vehicles, and LE scanner chatter that soon resulted in swat being deployed to a house where the murder suspect was holed-up.<\/p>\n

Sgt. M. Seligsohn wrote [5\/11\/17 10.20 pm]:<\/em><\/p>\n

The El Dorado County Sheriff Office has identified Suspect Travis Eriksen as being responsible for the homicide which occurred on Forni Road on May 10, 2016. The investigation lead deputies to a home located on Lindberg Avenue where it is suspected Eriksen is hiding.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff\u2019s Office SWAT Team is currently deployed at the residence and attempting to take Eriksen into custody.<\/p>\n

Presently, Lindberg Avenue, Chestnut Street and Betty Jean Court are closed to travel.<\/p>\n

“At 6:50 pm tonight, suspect Travis Eriksen was taken into custody after SWAT members introduced gas into the residence on Lindberg Avenue, where Eriksen was barricaded. \u00a0Eriksen will booked into the County Jail on charges of murder,” later reported EDSO Lt. Jim Byers.<\/p>\n

After an 8 hour stand-off the EDSO thanked local residents that were adversely effected by the stand-off with the murder suspect making this statement:<\/p>\n

EDSO, MAY 11, 2017 @ 7:00PM:<\/em>
\n“Today the search for Travis Leif Eriksen led deputies to a home on Lindberg Avenue where it was suspected Eriksen was in hiding. The EDSO SWAT Team was deployed to the residence. After an eight hour stand off the Swat Team took Eriksen into custody. We understand the impact this had on the community and thank the effected residents for their understanding and patience.”<\/p>\n

Excepting the\u00a0murder<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0victim<\/em><\/strong>, no other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

Rochelle Franco, a friend of the EDSO\u00a0added,<\/p>\n

“So grateful all our deputies are safe and Mr. Eriksen was taken into custody without incident. Thank you God for hearing our prayers for the safety and protection of our deputies. \u00a0Fantastic job EDSO.”\n<\/p>\n

Prior to this incident Travis Leif Eriksen had been arrested several time including a Hate Crime reported 11 years ago in nearby Sonora county. \u00a0The local news paper reported:<\/p>\n

Two young Don Pedro men pleaded guilty yesterday to violating the civil rights of a Sonora woman and her teenage son in October when they yelled racial slurs and threw food at them.<\/p>\n

Bruce Thomas Snyder, 18, of the 2300 block of Navarro Street, and Travis Leif Eriksen, 23, of the 14900 block of Juan Court, will avoid going to prison in exchange for their pleas.<\/p>\n

Snyder, who also pleaded guilty to drunken driving, had also been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, battery and possessing a switchblade knife. Those charges were dropped.<\/p>\n

Eriksen and Snyder, who are both white, were set to go to trial on Jan. 12.<\/p>\n

Outside Tuolumne County Superior Court, District Attorney Donald Segerstrom said he was satisfied with the plea bargain because, while the racial slurs and the behavior of Snyder and Eriksen were “horribly offensive,”he was not sure if he could have convinced a jury the woman and her son were in danger of being harmed<\/strong>.
