After years at the Georgetown Gazette, Penne Usher is now the editor of the Mountain Democrat, as well as the Georgetown Gazette. \u00a0Penne\u2019s first Opinion piece as the new editor said, “I am pleased to join the Mountain Democrat team as the new editor.’<\/p>\n

Penne Usher is the 33rd editor of the Democrat since it began production in 1851. \u00a0That is a new Editor every 5 years. \u00a0On Jun 17, 2015, NOEL STACK was named the new editor of the Mountain Democrat.<\/p>\n

In 2008 Usher left the news business and worked in marketing before returning to the Auburn Journal in 2014 as the managing editor, and shortly thereafter the editor.<\/p>\n

She started her journalism career in 2002 as an intern at the Albuquerque Journal while she completed college at the University of New Mexico. Usher was a staff reporter for the Albuquerque Journal, working a night shift as a crime reporter before returning to California. She joined the Auburn Journal team in 2004 shortly after graduation (at 40) as the crime and fire reporter.<\/p>\n

Usher has been a part of the El Dorado County community for almost 20 years with two children graduating from Pondo and U.M. high schools.<\/p>\n
