{"id":5407,"date":"2017-02-17T19:28:27","date_gmt":"2017-02-18T03:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/?p=5407"},"modified":"2025-11-23T19:29:55","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T03:29:55","slug":"kyle-larson-returns-to-placerville-speedway-in-short-track-outlaw-showdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/2017\/02\/17\/kyle-larson-returns-to-placerville-speedway-in-short-track-outlaw-showdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Kyle Larson Returns to Placerville Speedway in Short Track Outlaw Showdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PLACERVILLE, CA \u2013 For local dirt track racing sprint car enthusiast things just got a little sweeter. \u00a0Elk Grove\u2019s Kyle Larson confirmed that he will be racing at the third annual Brad Sweet\u2019s Placerville Short Track Outlaw Showdown presented by Riebes Auto parts held Wednesday night, March 29th, featuring the greatest show on dirt The World of Outlaws Craftsman\u00ae Sprint Car Series. \u00a0Larson is returning to the track that produced his first career sprint car win. \u00a0\u201cI am excited to race in front of a lot familiar fans at Placerville Speedway and to also get the chance to compete against the best sprint car drivers in the world,\u201d said Larson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year we had Kyle scheduled to race with us on that Wednesday night but unfortunately he wasn\u2019t able too because of an injury he sustained in the NASCAR series the weekend prior to our event,\u201d said Sweet. \u00a0\u201cI know how disappointed he was last year in not racing against us but I also know how much he is looking forward to competing at this year\u2019s race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reserved tickets are going fast but fans are still able to purchase their tickets for Brad Sweet\u2019s Placerville Short Track Outlaw Showdown presented by Riebes Auto Parts by following this online link at\u00a0<a>https:\/\/dirtcar.ticketforce.com\/ordertickets.asp?p=741&amp;backurl=default.asp<\/a>\u00a0 Reserved tickets are $45 per seat. \u00a0Fans can purchase pit passes \/ general admission seating on the day of the event but those seats are all first come first serve. \u00a0Tickets and will call booth will open at 2 PM. \u00a0Pit gate opens at 2 PM. \u00a0Grandstands open at 4 PM with sprint car qualifying slated to begin at 6:30 PM.<\/p>\n<p>An overabundance of sprint car stars will be joining Larson at Brad Sweet\u2019s Placerville Short Track Outlaw Showdown presented by Riebes Auto Parts. \u00a0Leading the charge is Fargo, North Dakota\u2019s Donny Schatz. \u00a0The eight-time World of Outlaws champion and inaugural winner of the Sweet race at Placerville drives the Tony Stewart Racing\/Arctic Cat\/Ford Performance\/No. 15. \u00a0Last year\u2019s winner Jason Johnson of Eunice, LA is set to get his Fischer Body Shop\/Waco Metal No. 41 back into victory lane to collect the $10,000 payday. \u00a0Both Schatz and Johnson went on to win sprint car racing\u2019s biggest prize, the Knoxville Nationals, in the same year they won the Placerville Short Track Showdown.<\/p>\n<p>Kasey Kahne Racing teammates Daryn Pittman of Owasso, Oklahoma, driving the Great Clips No. 9 and the event organizer Brad Sweet of Grass Valley, driving the Napa Auto Parts No. 49 are two of the favorites heading into this race. \u00a0Other top drivers with the World of Outlaws include Shane Stewart, of Bixby, OK, who drives the Larson\/Marks racing No. 2, the Brownsburg Bullet Joey Saldana in the Elk Grove Ford\/Roth Investments No. 17 for the newly-formed Stenhouse Jr.-Wood Racing team and another local favorite Paul McMahan of Nashville, TN by way of Elk Grove, CA driving the Destiny Motorsports No. 4.<\/p>\n<p>Sweet has once again booked the popular USAC Western States Midgets as his companion division with the World of Outlaws. \u00a0\u201cI felt the midgets put on a great show and it gives the fans a nice mix between the winged sprint cars and non-wing midgets,\u201d said Sweet.<\/p>\n<p>On March 29th, it will mark Sweet\u2019s third time being a promoter. \u00a0His own career started at local tracks like Placerville Speedway. \u00a0\u201cIt feels good to be a part of something local,\u201d said Sweet. \u00a0\u201cThe outpouring of support from the fans, sponsors and teams has been overwhelming.\u201d \u00a0Even though Sweet will be wearing the promoter hat don\u2019t forget that he is also a fierce competitor behind the wheel. \u00a0Sweet is a 21-time winner in the WoO Series and earned the 2014 Rookie of the Year honors. \u00a0He has won prestigious races such as the Kings Royal at Eldora (2013), the Short Track Nationals (2010) and Belleville Nationals (2008).
