Residents of El Dorado County and the City of Placerville are invited to help choose the design of an innovative new \u201cParklet\u201d to be installed on Main Street in Downtown Placerville from May to September 2017. \u201cA Parklet is a small public area that transforms a former parking space into a public recreation area,\u201d explained Olivia Byron-Cooper, manager with the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), Public Health Division. \u201cParklets encourage physical activity through non-motorized transportation by providing pedestrians with amenities like public seating, landscaping, art and bicycle parking.\u201d<\/p>\n
Members of the public may see and vote online for one of three proposed conceptual designs for the Parklet at\u00a0www.welldorado.org<\/a>\u00a0from January 20 through January 29, 2017. Local high school students developed the proposed designs. The Parklet will occupy one parking space in Downtown Placerville (specific location to be determined).
