The Board of Trustees for El Dorado Union High School District received two suggestions for naming facilities at Ponderosa High School. The Board created an Ad Hoc Committee to review the suggestions and to come back with a recommendation.<\/p>\n
Board policy states: \u201cThe Governing Board will not consider names which are associated with or represent values contrary to the district\u2019s philosophy and goals.\u201d The naming process may include recognition of the following:<\/p>\n
1) Individuals, living or deceased, and entities that have made outstanding contributions, including financial contributions, to the school community,
\n2) Individuals, living or deceased, who have made contributions of statewide, national, or worldwide significance,
\n3) The geographic area in which the school or building is located.<\/p>\n
The two suggestions made to the Board were:<\/p>\n
1) Naming the Ponderosa stadium playing field (not the stadium) \u201cTravis Hatcher Field<\/strong>\u201d after former teacher, coach and Activities Director, Travis Hatcher. The committee would like to reach out to the community for feedback regarding these two suggestions.
