Child abuse prevention is \u2018in the hands\u2019 of everyone<\/h1>\n

The El Dorado County Child Abuse Prevention Council has partnered with two local coffee shops to put the message of child abuse prevention and reporting in the hands of more than 10,000 community members in April. In the kickoff event on Friday, April 1, Love Birds Coffee and Tea in Diamond Springs will launch the #cups4kidsEDC contest and promotion \u2014 the first \u201cin your hands\u201d campaign for child abuse prevention starts here.<\/p>\n
The #cups4kidsEDC contest features prizes, interviews with community members and leaders dedicated to preventing child abuse, fun swag and free coffee for the first 25 people who say, \u201cApril is Child Abuse Prevention Month.\u201d In addition, every cup will feature the #cups4kidsEDC stickers for every customer, April 1-8. The contest moves to The Bean Barn\u2019s two locations after April 8.<\/p>\n
Kids are at risk everywhere. The two major risk factors leading to child abuse and neglect are family isolation and stress. Community stressors due to the isolation of COVID- 19 and the rapid increase of inflation affect all families, but El Dorado County is also reeling from the unprecedented evacuations of children and families during the Caldor Fire and the extended power outages.<\/p>\n
The mission of the El Dorado County Child Abuse Prevention Council is to increase awareness and respect for the rights of children to be free of abuse and neglect. The council comprises 15 members of the community, each appointed by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. The council acts as an independent entity, coordinated through a contract between the El Dorado County Department of Human Services and the El Dorado County Office of Education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
