EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. (KTXL) \u2014 An El Dorado County woman leaped into action on Friday afternoon when a bus of Valley View Charter students caught fire.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was so scary,\u201d said Amilia Rymer.<\/p>\n
Rymer was leaving the park with her 4-year-old son when they pulled behind the bus on El Dorado Hills Boulevard. But she soon noticed something was wrong as they approached the Highway 50 overpass.<\/p>\n
\u201cI saw the flames burst out,\u2019\u201d Rymer recalled.<\/p>\n
The bus\u2019s engine \u2014 located in the back \u2014was on fire.<\/p>\n
\u201cI started honking at the bus driver until he pulled over, and then I threw my car in park and ran up there and started yelling at the kids to get off,\u201d Rymer said.<\/p>\n
One by one, Rymer, the bus driver and others got the children out of the bus and to safety. Minutes later, the fire department showed up.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe whole back of the bus was flames, and it was chaotic,\u201d Rymer said.<\/p>\n
El Dorado Hills firefighters put out the fire but not before severe damage was done to the back of the bus.<\/p>\n
According to the U.S. Department of Transporation, it\u2019s more common than one might think. There is a minimum of one school bus fire per day in the United States. Rymer said she happened to be at the right place at the right time on Friday.<\/p>\n
No injuries were reported, and the children were taken to their respective stops by another bus.<\/p>\n

It happened on El Dorado Hills Boulevard under Highway 50, the El Dorado Hills Fire Department said.<\/p>\n
All students were able to get off the bus safely and another bus is working to pick up students.<\/p>\n
Video from LiveCopter 3 showed the bus being from Buckeye Union School District.<\/p>\n
Most of the damage happened to the back of the bus.<\/p>\n
