{"id":2923,"date":"2021-12-09T22:53:54","date_gmt":"2021-12-10T06:53:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/?p=2923"},"modified":"2021-12-09T22:54:15","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T06:54:15","slug":"caldor-fire-suspects-son-converted-firearm-into-machine-gun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.newsmolo.com\/EDC\/2019\/2021\/12\/09\/caldor-fire-suspects-son-converted-firearm-into-machine-gun\/","title":{"rendered":"Caldor Fire suspects: Son converted firearm into machine gun"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre class=\"gnt_ar_by\"><a class=\"gnt_ar_by_a gnt_ar_by_a__fi\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rgj.com\/staff\/4406961002\/amy-alonzo\/\">[Amy Alonzo <\/a>Reno Gazette Journal]<\/pre>\n<div class=\"gnt_ar_b\">\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">One of the men charged with starting the devastating Caldor Fire in California is charged with converting a firearm into a machine gun, according to a criminal complaint filed by the El Dorado County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Both David Smith, 66, of Somerset and his son Travis Smith, 32, of Folsom are facing multiple felony counts, which includes both facing a charge of possessing a silencer between Aug. 11 and Sept. 23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Only Travis Smith is charged with\u00a0machine gun conversion \u2013 converting a firearm into a machine gun or manufacturing a machine gun \u2013 between Aug. 9 and Aug. 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In addition, both are facing three felony counts of recklessly starting a fire that damaged property, land and people.
