Menke}]<\/pre>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Background: <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Although the promotion of social inclusion through sports has received increased attention with other disadvantaged groups, this is not the case for children and adults with intellectual disability who experience marked social isolation. The study evaluated the outcomes from one sports program with particular reference to the processes that were perceived to enhance social inclusion. Unified Sports does provide a vehicle for promoting the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities that &#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The Youth Unified Sports program of Special Olympics combines players with intellectual disabilities (called athletes) and those without intellectual disabilities (called partners) of similar skill level in the same sports teams for training and competition. Alongside the development of sporting skills, the program offers athletes a platform to socialize with peers and to take part in the life of their community. *<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe lot out of this the uh the<br \/>\n00:46<br \/>\nbuddies are able to<br \/>\n00:48<br \/>\nlearn about mentorship and coaching and<br \/>\n00:51<br \/>\nthey they they get to learn teaching<br \/>\n00:53<br \/>\nskills<br \/>\n00:54<br \/>\nwhile the athletes get out here and they<br \/>\n00:56<br \/>\nget to learn sports skills and uh and<br \/>\n00:58<br \/>\nthey get to challenge themselves and<br \/>\n00:59<br \/>\nlearn how to win learn how to lose<br \/>\n01:02<br \/>\nand overcome obstacles that will that<br \/>\n01:04<br \/>\nwill help them throughout their entire<br \/>\n01:06<br \/>\nlives my son has been with this program<br \/>\n01:09<br \/>\nfor seven years<br \/>\n01:10<br \/>\nand i have just seen him grow to love<br \/>\n01:12<br \/>\nsports and get to know other kids in the<br \/>\n01:15<br \/>\nprogram he gets to see other kids that<br \/>\n01:17<br \/>\nhe&#8217;s had class with before and they get<br \/>\n01:19<br \/>\nto reconnect on the field and see each<br \/>\n01:21<br \/>\nother again<br \/>\n01:23<br \/>\nand<br \/>\n01:25<br \/>\nhe just loves getting out there and<br \/>\n01:26<br \/>\nparticipating<br \/>\n01:28<br \/>\nmy son Owen is on the field playing but<br \/>\n01:31<br \/>\nhe does a lot of also spectating he&#8217;s<br \/>\n01:34<br \/>\nalso good for a<br \/>\n01:35<br \/>\nhype team so he&#8217;s out on the field and<br \/>\n01:37<br \/>\nhe likes to encourage his friends<br \/>\n01:39<br \/>\nand sometimes he even kicks the ball<br \/>\n01:42<br \/>\nbut he loves it out there he loves sport<br \/>\n01:44<br \/>\ni&#8217;m in this program to kind of like<br \/>\n01:47<br \/>\nget<br \/>\n01:48<br \/>\nthe other students on campus who aren&#8217;t<br \/>\n01:50<br \/>\nnormally easily involved and things like<br \/>\n01:52<br \/>\nthis help get those kids involved<br \/>\n01:55<br \/>\nbring those people in front of the rest<br \/>\n01:57<br \/>\nof the school population and show<br \/>\n01:58<br \/>\neveryone that like everyone can be<br \/>\n02:00<br \/>\ninvolved in all of these things<br \/>\n02:02<br \/>\nand just i know they have a lot of fun<br \/>\n02:04<br \/>\ndoing it it was a lot of fun getting<br \/>\n02:05<br \/>\nthem all pumped up on the bus and all of<br \/>\n02:07<br \/>\nit um i didn&#8217;t really know what i was<br \/>\n02:09<br \/>\ngetting into when i first got involved i<br \/>\n02:11<br \/>\nhad a friend from like is a big part of<br \/>\n02:13<br \/>\nour leadership program come in and kind<br \/>\n02:15<br \/>\nof bring me through this and i just<br \/>\n02:17<br \/>\nended up getting really close to gavin<br \/>\n02:19<br \/>\nwe&#8217;ve been buddies through all of the<br \/>\n02:20<br \/>\nevents that we&#8217;ve done and<br \/>\n02:22<br \/>\njust it&#8217;s been a really enjoyable<br \/>\n02:25<br \/>\nexperience to like be involved in it<br \/>\n02:27<br \/>\nwhat kind of stuff is soccer uh it&#8217;s<br \/>\n02:30<br \/>\nprobably a particular goal i was<br \/>\n02:33<br \/>\nfighting at once<br \/>\n02:49<br \/>\ni always join playing soccer because<br \/>\n02:52<br \/>\nit&#8217;s the funniest week ever<br \/>\n02:55<br
