But when 66-year-old Hoffman Kurzi met the bear, that all changed.<\/p>\n
Around 5:30 am on October 30, she woke up to a \u201ccrash\u201d sound in a nearby kitchen. She thought her son was there, but when Hoffman Kurzi checked, she saw a bear passing through the freezer.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can see behind the freezer door, behind which is the butt meat of a bear standing in the freezer, taking frozen food and throwing it to the ground,\u201d Hoffman Kurzi told USA Today. \u201cHe must have seen and registered me almost as soon as I registered him.\u201d<\/p>\n
But when the two looked at each other, Hoffman Kurzi said he had lost sight of the bear in a dark room, and she felt its presence.<\/p>\n
\u201cI only feel pain and tears everywhere. That was horrifying,\u201d she said. \u201cI didn\u2019t know if I could get out of this.\u201d<\/p>\n
