On February 14, 2012, at approximately 5:00 am, El Dorado County Sheriff\u2019s deputies responded to the 3200 block of La Canada Drive in Cameron Park for a suspicious persons call. According to a resident in the area, a suspicious male subject dressed in dark clothing had walked into the apartment complex and then entered a vehicle.<\/p>\n
Deputies arrived in the area and began checking the parking area. While checking the area, deputies saw a white male adult open the driver\u2019s side door of a dark blue, Toyota sedan and immediately began running away from the deputies. Deputies gave chase ordering the subject to stop but he refused and continued to run. Deputies caught up to the subject, grabbed his clothing and drug him to the ground. The subject was handcuffed and brought back to the apartment parking area.

\nWhen deputies returned to the parking area they looked inside the Toyota sedan which the subject fled from. Deputies noted the glove box was open and there were miscellaneous items scattered about the passenger seat and floorboard. Deputies also located tools which were consistent with those used by individuals trying to break into a vehicle. Deputies contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and confirmed the vehicle had not been left in this condition.<\/p>\n
Deputies identified the subject as Michael Stafford, 37 years of age and resident of Cameron Park. Based on the deputies investigation Stafford was arrested for burglary and possession of burglary tools.<\/p>\n
This arrest would not have occurred without the accurate and timely reporting by a diligent local resident. Continued arrests like this one are possible as citizens and deputies continue to work together to keep neighborhoods safe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
