to enforce mandatory environmental state law and require preparation of an EIR for the Clay Street\/Cedar Ravine Realignment and Clay Street Bridge at Hangtown Creek Replacement Project, also known as the \u201cRoundabout Project,\u201d which entails the demolition of the Clay Street Bridge and Hangtown Creek overlook and relocation of the Druid Monument, on the basis of an inadequate and incomplete Initial Study\/Mitigated Negative Declaration.<\/p>\n
The Court\u2019s February 14 ruling granted the Petition on every single issue; an EIR must be prepared to study potential impacts to historic resources and its effect on urban decay as well as other impacts listed in the ruling. (Attached.) The effect of the ruling will result in the requirement to set aside and vacate the Project approvals and the Mitigated Negative Declaration until further study is completed. Friends are comprised of many longtime community members and business owners who have worked to keep the historic character of Placerville intact. Friends have shown that a small but focused group of people acting in the public interest can make a difference and hold their government accountable.
