PLACERVILLE- Crews discovered gold Thursday morning underneath Main Street in Placerville.<\/p>\n
The gold was mixed in with dirt moved aside during a water main upgrade project.<\/p>\n
Placerville\u2019s City Manager Cleve Morris says the dirt from Main Street is going right back into the ground where it came from.<\/p>\n
Resident Kirk Smith says more of the glittery, flaky fill dirt should have been set aside, and saved for the benefit of Placerville.<\/p>\n
He says there\u2019s thousands of dollars buried in the ground, unburied, and then buried again \u2013 not to mention the wow-factor.<\/p>\n
